Semyon Bychkov
Intermusica welcomed the Czech Philharmonic to London on Tuesday 10 September to perform their first Prom in five years, with Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov.The Orchestra presented a mixed programme of Czech-Russian repertoire including Smetana’s well-known Overture and three dances from his comic opera The Bartered Bride, and Shostakovich’s war-inspired Symphony No.8, described by the composer as a ‘poem of suffering’.
