  • Celebrated Swedish soprano Ingela Brimberg has collaborated with some of the world’s finest conductors, including Marc Minkowski, Donald Runnicles, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Daniel Harding, Francois-Xavier Roth, Leif Segerstam, Sakari Oramo and Pablo Heras-Casado, and is renowned for her interpretations of the most complex and demanding of opera’s dramatic soprano heroines.

  • During the 2022/23 season Brimberg will perform Leonore Fidelio at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Senta Der fliegende Holländer for Oper Köln and Isolde Tristan und Isolde at the Teatro Real Madrid. Last season performances included Brünnhilde Die Walküre for Royal Swedish Opera, the title role of Elektra at the Grand Theatre de Genève, and the title role in her first staged Turandot for the Teatro Regio Turin, followed by further performances of the role in her return to Geneva. 

    Recent highlights also include: Brünnhilde Siegfried for Göteborg Opera; her first Isolde Tristan und Isolde in a new production for Oper Köln; Eva in Sebastian Fagerlund’s new opera Höstsonaten for Finnish National Opera; Senta at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater an der Wien, Oper Köln, Staatsoper Hamburg, Teatro Real Madrid and in concert with Minkowski (recorded by Naïve); and Brünnhilde Die Walküre with the Teatro Real Madrid, Royal Swedish Opera, Opéra National de Bordeaux and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. She sang the title role of Salomé for Oper Köln (new Ted Huffman production), Teatro Verdi Trieste and Göteborg Opera, Elsa Lohengrin at La Monnaie, the title role Tosca for Oper Köln, Göteborg Opera and Finnish National Opera, title role Aida for Malmö Opera, Elettra Idomeneo for the Opéra de Lyon and Göteborg Opera, and Elektra for L’opéra National de Bordeaux. In concert she has performed Chrysothemis Elektra at the Verbier Festival, Vier Letzte Lieder with the Orchestre National de Lille and Opéra de Rouen Normandie, and Turandot with the Orchestre National de Lille.

    For her La Monnaie debut Ingela Brimberg appeared as Valentine Les Huguenots (conducted by Minkowski and named the best production of year 2011 in Opernwelt) and made her Royal Swedish Opera debut in spring 2013 as Ellen Orford Peter Grimes. She sang Konstanze Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Amelia Un ballo in Maschera and Donna Anna Don Giovanni with Folkoperan, Stockholm, the title roles of Jenufa (NorrlandsOperan) and Katja Kabanova (Göteborg Opera), Lady Macbeth in Verdi Macbeth (Toulon Opera), Elektra in a spectacular production by La Fura dels Baus in Umeå (European Capital of Culture), released on DVD (Unitel Classica), title role Manon Lescaut for the Danish National Opera, and Sieglinde in concerts of Die Walküre with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding.
