Andrii Kymach

Baritone

  • Ukrainian baritone Andrii Kymach is the First Prize Winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2019. Highlights of the 2025/26 season include Kymach’s return to the Royal Opera House as Shchelkalov in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff for Hamburg Opera, the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin for Den Norske Opera & Ballet Oslo and Germont in Verdi’s La traviata for Opera Australia. On the concert platform, he performs Rachmaninov’s The Bells with the Warsaw Philharmonic and Vasily Petrenko, and a solo recital at Wigmore Hall.

  • Recent highlights include Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff and Sir Riccardo Forth in Bellini’s I puritani for Opéra National de Paris, as well as the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Alfio in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana for the Canadian Opera Company. He has made notable debuts as Count Tomsky in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades for the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen for The Royal Ballet and Opera (Covent Garden), the High Priest of Dagon in Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila for Ópera de Tenerife and Robert in Iolanta in concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Further recent engagements include Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s La traviata for Houston Grand Opera, Sir Riccardo Forth in I puritani for the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, and the title role in Don Giovanni for Opera Australia, Escamillo in Carmen for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Count Tomsky in The Queen of Spades at the Grange Festival, Lord Enrico Ashton in Lucia di Lammermoor for Ópera de Tenerife, the title role in Don Giovanni for Opéra de Nice, and a concert performance of the title role in Rubinstein’s The Demon at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. 


    Kymach’s concert work includes Rachmaninov’s The Bells with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, a recital for Oxford Lieder, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra under Keri-Lynn Wilson in London, Washington, Paris, Warsaw, and Gdańsk.


    Kymach graduated from the Bolshoi Young Artist Programme in 2018, during which time he made his role debut as Don Carlos in Dargomyzhsky’s The Stone Guest at the Bolshoi Theatre.
