Liam Forrest

Tenor

  • Scottish tenor Liam Forrest is a recent graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with Matthew Best and Mark Wildman, and joins the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Stuttgart from the 2026/27 season. During the summer of 2026 he appears at the Glyndebourne Festival as member of their Jerwood Young Artist Programme.

  • Forrest’s operatic experience includes Passerby in Káťa Kabanová at Glyndebourne, Young Puccini in Niall Morris’ Puccini: Man of the Theatre at Wexford Festival Opera, Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann for Preston Opera, Dorvil in La scala di seta and Bobyl-Bakula in The Snow Maiden at RNCM, and Mr Rushworth in Dove’s Mansfield Park for Byre Opera.


    Recent concert engagements include Lily Boulanger’s Psalm 130 with the Hallé at The Bridgewater Hall and Sheffield City Hall, and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera’s 2025 Christmas Concert. He has also performed Verdi’s Requiem (EUMS), Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius (St Andrew’s Chorus), Puccini’s Messa di Gloria (Bury Choral Society), Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle (Lancaster & District Choral Society), Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, Coronation Mass, Solemn Vespers (Haddo House Operatic and Choral Society; Chester Choral Society; Perth Choral Society), and Schubert’s Mass in G minor (Haddo House Operatic and Choral Society). 


    Forrest has performed widely across Scotland, including engagements with the Dunfermline Carnegie Trust, the United Dunfermline Burns Club, and the Rotary Club of Dunfermline. Notable appearances include the Tiffany Window dedication ceremony for the Carnegie Trust and John Cairney’s book launch of The Tycoon and the Bard. As an RNCM Songster, he performed the song cycle Other Love Songs with Sir Stephen Hough at the RNCM Concert Hall.


    Forrest completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the University of Aberdeen in 2022. He was named semi-finalist in the 2026 Concurs Tenor Viñas Competition and finalist of the 2026 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.
