Luigi Morassi

Morassi’s recent plans include include his debut in the role of Eumete in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria at Teatro Ponchielli, Cremona, opening the Monteverdi Festival under Ottavio Dantone; his debut as Grimoaldo in Händel’s Rodelinda at the Theater an der Wien and in concert at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia with La Lira d’Orfeo; his debut at Teatro Regio di Parma in Giovanni Sollima’s Il Libro della Giungla; and his portrayal of Lucano in L’incoronazione di Poppea for the Monteverdi Opera Festival, conducted by Antonio Greco and directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi. Further engagements include Mozart’s La Betulia Liberata at Teatro Carlo Felice, Genova, under Diego Fasolis; the roles of the Sailor and the Poor Man in Maria egiziaca at Teatro La Fenice, Venice, in a production by Pier Luigi Pizzi conducted by Manlio Benzi; Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle at the Luglio Musicale Trapanese; Mozart’s Requiem at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; and the role of Pong in Turandot at the Puccini Festival Torre del Lago under Riccardo Palumbo.

Morassi studied and refined his vocal technique with Fernando Cordeiro Opa and graduated in Opera Singing from the G. B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna. During his training, he attended the Rodolfo Celletti Academy in Martina Franca, the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and the ROF Academy in Pesaro. Morassi was a finalist at the Tullio Serafin Competition at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and a recipient of the Rodolfo Celletti Prize and scholarship for the Accademia d’Alto Perfezionamento di Belcanto in Martina Franca. In this context, he appeared as a soloist in Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, in collaboration with the Paolo Grassi Foundation in Martina Franca and the Orchestra of Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
