In the past two seasons, her roles for the Royal Ballet & Opera have included Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, Iris in Semele, Frasquita in Carmen, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, and the soprano solo in the ballet Woolf Works. Hovanisyan made her Théâtre des Champs-Élysées debut as Iris in a new production of Händel’s Semele, cond. Haïm, dir. Mears, and performed Fauré’s Requiem in a staged production by Carlos Acosta with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
Hovanisyan has received the Audience Prize, Eva Kleinitz Award and The Beckwith Foundation Award at the CLIP Portofino International Singing Competition in Italy in 2023, and is also the 2020 recipient of the Presidential Prize for Young Opera Singers in Armenia and the first prize at the 2019 Gohar Gasparyan National Singing Competition. Hovanisyan is a graduate of the Yerevan State Conservatory and Mascarade Opera Studio in Florence, and started her performing career at Armenian State Musical Comedy Theatre.
