Recent highlights include his return to Opera National de Paris for La fille du régiment and Massenet Manon at the Teatro Regio di Torino, his house debut for Staatsoper Hamburg with Donizetti Lucia di Lammermoor, Donizetti L’elisir d’amore at the Wiener Staatsoper, Puccini La bohème at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Donizetti Don Pasquale for the Teatro alla Scala and Rossini Il barbiere de Siviglia for the Semperoper Dresden and the Teatro alla Scala Accademia. Pidò also made his house debut at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile with a concert staging of Don Pasquale, a symphonic programme of Haydn Symphony No.45 and Rossini Stabat Mater, a return to the Teatro Colon to conduct Schubert Symphony No.8 and Beethoven Symphony No.7 and a concert ‘Viva L’Italia’ celebrating 150 years of friendship between Italy and Peru at Teatro Municipal de Lima.
Other highlights for Pidò include a new production of Bellini La sonnambula for the Semperoper Dresden, La fille du régiment at the Teatro Regio di Torino, a return to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden for La bohème where he had previously conducted Don Pasquale, La fille du régiment and Rossini Il turco in Italia, L’elisir d’amore and Lucia di Lammermoor with the Bayerische Staatsoper, Meyerbeer Les Huguenots for La Monnaie, Donizetti Viva La Mamma at the Teatro Real, Madrid, Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Pasquale with the Wiener Staatsoper, Verdi La traviata at the Gran Theatre del Liceu, Verdi Rigoletto at the Bolshoi Theatre, La traviata for the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires, Puccini Tosca and Don Pasquale with Opéra National de Paris and Verdi Simon Boccanegra at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia with Placido Domingo. On the concert platform, Pidò conducted a gala concert with tenor Vittorio Grigolo to great critical acclaim at the Teatro Colón.
In 2012, Evelino Pidò received the much-coveted Bellini d’Oro prize for best interpreter of the music of Bellini. His discography includes a recording of French arias with tenor Vittorio Grigolo, L’elisir d’amore with the Orchestra and Choir of the Opéra de Lyon for Decca; a recording of Rossini overtures with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and La sonnambula with Natalie Dessay for EMI Virgin Classics, which won the Diapason d’or and is critically acknowledged as a benchmark recording of this opera.
