This season’s highlights include several important debuts, including a house debut at LA Opera as Marcello in Puccini's La bohème, a role debut as Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen with Dallas Opera, a house & role debut as Carlo Gérard in Giordano's Andrea Chénier for Municipal de Santiago de Chile, as well as Kim's festival & role debut as Donner in Wagner's Das Rheingold for the Osterfestspiele Salzburg. On the concert platform, Kim makes his debut with the Berlin Philharmoniker in Mahler Symphony no. 8 under the baton of Kirill Petrenko.
Last season, Kim made his house debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Schaunard La bohème, as well as a role debut as Marchese di Posa Don Carlo with the Royal Danish Theatre, which he reprised later in the season for Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2023/24, Kim made a string of significant debuts, including at the Royal Ballet & Opera, Covent Garden as Marcello La bohème, Dallas Opera as Scarpia Tosca, the Bayerische Staatsoper as Schaunard La bohème and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Giorgio Germont La Traviata. Other recent highlights include his US debut with Washington National Opera as Marcello La bohème, a role which also saw him make his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Korea National Opera. In future seasons, Kim returns to the Metropolitan Opera and to the Royal Danish Theatre.
Kim is a former member of the Junges Ensemble at Staatstheater Hannover which he joined after his studies with Kwan-dong Kim at the Yonsei University in Seoul.
