Plans for the 2026/27 season include a return to the Metropolitan Opera as Schaunard in Franco Zeffirelli's production of Puccini's La bohème, followed by role debuts as Ford in Verdi's Falstaff at the Royal Danish Theatre, and Wolfram von Eschenbach in Wagner's Tannhäuser at Oper Dortmund. On the concert platform, Kim gives a solo recital at Wigmore Hall.
Last season, Kim made several important debuts, including at LA Opera as Marcello in La bohème, his role debut as Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen at the Dallas Opera, and his festival and role debut as Donner in Wagner's Das Rheingold at the Osterfestspiele Salzburg. He also made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in Mahler's Symphony No. 8 under Kirill Petrenko.
Recent operatic highlights include his role debut as Marchese di Posa in Verdi's Don Carlo at the Royal Danish Theatre, which he later reprised at Deutsche Oper Berlin, as well as notable debuts at the Royal Ballet & Opera as Marcello in La bohème, the Dallas Opera as Scarpia in Tosca, Bayerische Staatsoper as Schaunard, and Deutsche Oper Berlin as Giorgio Germont in La traviata, and his Metropolitan Opera debut as Schaunard in La bohème.
Other notable appearances include his US debut as Marcello in La bohème with Washington National Opera, a role he has also performed at Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Korea National Opera.
Future engagements include returns to the Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Danish Theatre.
