Elsewhere this season, Haugerud returns to the New National Theatre Tokyo in the title role of Salome and to Norwegian Opera for Elektra. She also appears in concert with the Bamberg Symphony to perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 conducted by Eva Ollikainen and at Theater Magdeburg for Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder. Last season she sang Ortlinde in Die Walküre with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Daniel Harding and made her debut with the New National Theatre Tokyo as Chrysothemis in a new staging of Elektra conducted by Kazushi Ono.
Concert highlights include Vier letzte Lieder with the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Chrysothemis in concerts of Elektra for L'Opéra-Théâtre de Metz, Grieg Songs on tour to Spain with the Bergen Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and her recital debut at the 2025 Bregenz Festival.
Haugerud’s previous engagements have included her debut as the title role of Salome in Metz, Fourth Maid in Elektra with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Edward Gardner, Fifth Maid in Elektra for the Norwegian Opera under Petr Popelka and The Overseer in Tcherniakov’s production of Elektra for the Royal Danish Opera conducted by Thomas Søndergård. At the Royal Danish Opera, Haugerud sang Annina in David Radok's La Traviata and Lady with a Hat Box in Dominick Argento's Postcard from Morocco. She also debuted the role of Amelia in Un ballo in Maschera for Opera på Skäret in Sweden.
Haugerud graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music, followed by the Conservatoire National et Supérieur de Musique in Paris and the Opera Academy in Copenhagen. She studied with Anne Sophie von Otter, Bo Skovhus, Soile Isokoski and Randi Stene, and worked with conductors Michael Schønwandt, Richard Farnes, Giancarlo Andretta and Robert Houssart. She was also awarded a study grant by the Dobloug Foundation and received the Skagen Talent Award in 2019. Her numerous competition successes have included second prize at the 2023 Paris Opera Competition, Press Jury's Winner at The Mirjam Helin Competition and First Prize at the 2024 Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition.
